Q: What is the licensing model for .NET xPorter, .NET xlReader. .NET odsReader and .NET txtReader?
A: All our components have a very simple licensing model. Each developer’s PC must
purchase a separate licence to be able to develop or test applications using any
one of our products. Distribution is royalty-free and does not have any limitations
for the number of deployed servers/environments. All purchased licenses include
a full year of unlimited email support and free upgrades for new releases.
Q: How can I distribute components?
A: In order to use any of our components in a production environment, a license
file for that component is required to be deployed within the destined production
environment. There are several ways in which a component license can be deployed
into production. To learn more about licence distribution, please refer specifically
to the component documentation installed with each product. View this documentation

Q: Where can I get samples for the components?
A: Sample Visual Basic .NET and C# applications are included in the installation
of each component. These can be found within the Samples subfolder of the component’s
main installation folder. (e.g. C:\Program Files\xPortTools\.NET xlReader
for Microsoft Excel\Samples).
Q: Do I need to install Microsoft® Excel or Jet OLEDB to use .NET xPorter, .NET xlReader or .NET txtReader?
A: No. The components are 100% .NET managed code and do not require the installation
of Microsoft® Excel or any additional software outside of the .NET Framework.
Q: Do I need to install different versions of the components for Windows and ASP.NET
development?
A: No. The installation of separate versions of the components is not necessary
in order to use them for development of different types of applications. xPorter
and xlReader both support the development of ASP.NET and Windows Forms applications.
